Yes, the Milan teams will really struggle to reach break-even, though the FFP regulations do provide a "glide path" with phase implementation, acceptable deviations and also a little-known clause whereby wages for players signed before June 2010 are excluded from the calculation for the first 2 years (so long as club moving in right direction).

Although they're a little old, I wrote about the issues and challenges facing Milan and Inter here:

http://swissramble.blogspot.com/2010/11/milans-age-of-austerity.html

http://swissramble.blogspot.com/2010/08/price-of-inters-success.htmlThe Swiss Ramblerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11423088862174893998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487486960623783530.post-64869875034393220462011-07-11T15:31:28.066+02:002011-07-11T15:31:28.066+02:00Hi Swiss, congrats on the award well deserved.

I'm not sure that Palermo will be able to make a major change in their model without the benefit of regular Champions League football, but to do that, they would need to retain their best players. It's a Catch-22.

2. Essentially, the losses at Inter and Milan have been funded by the owners, which has restrained the bank debt to manageable levels. It will be interesting to see how that works in the era of FFP.

3.
