It will be interesting to see how the EPL reacts to Sky's decline (or if Sky will move into online entertainment). Right now the whack-a-mole lawsuit strategy reeks of the now crippled music industry in the States - an ominous sign.Elliotthttp://futfanatico.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487486960623783530.post-6276638002121817262011-03-11T14:01:14.837+01:002011-03-11T14:01:14.837+01:00Have to agree with an above poster.

The clubs that sit at the top are those that have a rich history known throughout the world and can rely on this to push them that much further.

It's easy, however, to say they should have more world-wide appeal and a popular brand. It's hard to actually get this going. It's something that takes years and years to accomplish and all the while rival clubs with an already established brand are competing with you ten-fold.Gaz Hunthttp://gazhunt.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487486960623783530.post-71543520430595344382011-03-09T19:19:23.788+01:002011-03-09T19:19:23.788+01:00excellent again :)excellent again :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487486960623783530.post-22166005680114532752011-03-07T10:18:44.663+01:002011-03-07T10:18:44.663+01:00good article except for the continued nonsense abo...good article except for the continued nonsense about the 1973 fa cup final - if you watch the game you will see whilst monty does make a brilliant double save he has very little else to to do and in fact sunderland had more direct shots at goal than leeds, and the cup final was only one part of winning the cup. Sunderland are the only side to win the cup that beat three of the top four. also the article fails to take into account that the strategy was working until bent decided to leave for a team that isn't as good as sunderlands.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487486960623783530.post-88155022168305376062011-03-03T07:52:57.828+01:002011-03-03T07:52:57.828+01:00Great article.

Outside the UK, the brand Sunderland is not well-known and this is affecting the potential revenues it could get. All other clubs have worked on its branding and it is visible by how famous they are outside the UK.

If Sunderland wants to become a bigger club and get more revenues they really have to work on their brand. Promotional tours and signing "marquee" players is a start and hopefully they can qualify for Europe next year, as that is also a good place to start spreading a brand recognition campaign.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487486960623783530.post-48228380718551839792011-03-01T23:10:13.117+01:002011-03-01T23:10:13.117+01:00Great article.

In a few years due to FFP, I think that we will see some mid-table clubs qualify for EL (from the EPL) and CL (from Spain and Italy), but be able to play due to the FFP rules.

FFP seems like the rich clubs making the European competitions (especially CL) a right for only the rich clubs in the big leagues.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487486960623783530.post-20676932916527042312011-03-01T22:46:16.367+01:002011-03-01T22:46:16.367+01:00Fantastic article, one of the most indepth and wel...Fantastic article, one of the most indepth and well research peices ive read in a while :).Allen whitehttp://www.techieshelp.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487486960623783530.post-31140262002960781792011-03-01T19:41:48.558+01:002011-03-01T19:41:48.558+01:00Gotta keep the faith....got no choice, being a Mac...Gotta keep the faith....got no choice, being a Mackem (in exile)! Wasn't mentioned in the very interesting article, but the Chief Exec Steve Walton is the former head of Barclays Bank's football finance division / dept., so if he can't keep our finances right, who the hell can! It is tough to compete financially with clubs well established in the Prem, and not just the top 5 or 6. But with every succeeding season in the Prem, and with every improved position, I remain hopeful SAFC will soon be considered as one of those 'established' teams. As my Uncle is a Sunderland fan, i'm sure he will be very interested in this blog and i'll tell him about it. :) Anyway, as you said, they have been getting rid of many players who were brought when Roy Keane was the manager who, to be honest, were awful. And I believe they can grow the commercial side and will do. Keep up the great blogs. :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487486960623783530.post-36869181674209876742011-03-01T11:26:06.879+01:002011-03-01T11:26:06.879+01:00For a few years Sunderland have been behind Boro i...For a few years Sunderland have been behind Boro in a business cycle by about five years........Followingborohurtshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09447944130041141090noreply@blogger.com
